Sodastream Review & £30 Trade in details.

February 26, 2012 in review

Get busy with the Fizzy!

I was kindly sent a limited edition Green Fizz sodastream. It was delivered the next day & even the driver commented on the unusualy packaging. It arrived in a large brown paper bag with brown tape holding it together, what a great idea, it already has a protective box round it so why would you need extra packaging?

Everything about the Green Fizz is about supporting Climate Week (12-15th March 2012).  The main outer packaging is all recycled & fully recyclable. On the outside of the box there is a lot of information about Sodastream’s contribution to Earth Friendly, for each machine they sell they will donate $1 towards Trees for the Future which will plant 10 trees in Brazil. A certificate in the box let’s you know you’ve helped in purchasing 10 more trees.

Sodastream’s help to reduce your carbon footprint,  a Sodastream carbonating bottles are reusable for 3 years saving a massive 2000 plastic bottles & can’s!!! How crazy it that figure??? Their mantra is Reduce, Reuse, Rethink.

Now for the exciting bit …………. testing it …….. It was easy to put the gas cylinder into the unit & it’s got a fab widget called a Fizz Chip which show’s you just how much gas is still in the cylinder & takes the guess work out of it.

After washing the bottle I filled it with cold water to the indicator line &  using the tilt lever to flip drinksmaker forward & screwed the bottle in. That is definitely a major improvement on the old model. The bottles are also plastic compared to the old glass bottles & are significantly larger aswell.

I was so excited to see if it still “burped” & yep after 3 presses of the handle it “burped” at me! Wooohoooo that took me back.

I was sent 2 bottles of concentrate to try, lemonade & pink grapefruit. I tried the lemonade as soon as I’d “fizzed” up my bottle of water.

It’s easy to measure out as you just use 1 cap full per full bottle of carbonated water. They include a lid for the bottle so the rest can go back into the fridge to keep cool.

It tastes exactly as I remember it, like normal lemonade!!

They do so many different flavours now the choice is immense. Check them out here. They even do diet & clear drink concentrates. A massive improvement from years ago.

My only 1 reservation is that it only comes with 1 bottle & that could cause problems if people want different flavours before the main bottle is empty.

Do you still own an old sodastream machine? Sadly they are discontinuing the old gas cylinders so you wont be able to get them BUT before you panic, they are doing a great trade in offer, trade in your old machine & they will give you £30 off a new machine. You can read the press release about it below with more details on this.

PRESS RELEASE

Out with the Old, and in with the New

Get SodaStream-ing again with excellent trade-in deal

Following the announcement in 2010 that SodaStream is discontinuing its old 35L steel gas cylinders traditionally used in the brand’s older drinksmaker models, SodaStream is now inviting shoppers to take advantage of an excellent trade-in deal, as the old cylinders will no longer be available at the usual SodaStream stockists.

From the middle of February 2012, members of the public can go to SodaStream stockists, Robert Dyas and The Range, and exchange their old 35L drinksmaker for a 21st century 60L model at a greatly reduced trade-in price of £30. This fantastic exchange shaves 50% off the retail price of the £59.99 Genesis machine.

And it’s not just current SodaStream-ers who will benefit – those with an old-style machine standing idle in their loft or garage will be able to trade in their old drinksmaker for a brand new SodaStream at an incredible price.

The trade-in deal will also be supported by an advertising campaign in national newspapers from 16th February , to raise awareness of this great  exchange deal

Fiona Hope, Managing Director of SodaStream UK commented: “2012 will see some great developments from SodaStream; from new and exciting flavour releases to innovative machine launches. So, we are encouraging our customers to out with the old and in with the new with this fantastic trade-in deal.
