Review:- Frankie & Benny’s Breakfast courtesy of My Family Club’s #thriftythursday

August 27, 2012 in review

A few weeks ago I won a voucher for a family breakfast at Frankie & Benny’s from My Family Club on twitter during one of their weekly #thriftythursday events that start at 1pm ( you should check them out, they have loads of great tips & we all have a good old natter!!) & was nicely surprised to find it was worth £30.

It’s been about 12 years or more since I last went to Frankie & Benny’s & didn’t even realise they served breakfast! Today being a bank holiday was the perfect time for us to go & try it out.

Although the kids did think we’d got an ulterior motive to taking them out for breakfast! We’re not sure what they thought we were going to tell them but it was fun watching Kirsty’s face when Ian wound her up about it!

Frankie & Benny’s serve breakfast from 9am till midday.   All of their breakfasts are £5 each with a child’s menu at just £3.95. You can add unlimited tea or coffee for an additional £1.50 per person. (check out their webpage for regular special’s)

We arrived at about 10ish & it was fairly quiet, we were greeted by friendly staff who showed us to a table & got a high chair for Paige. She even got her own balloon as did all the other children who were there. This is a nice touch & kept her occupied. We ordered our drinks & sat down with the menu’s.

Here’s my yummy hot chocolate with cream!

I’d previously looked on line at the menu so knew what I wanted, but that didn’t stop me having another look to see if I could be swayed! Between the 5 of us we chose 5 different meals, with Paige just sharing bit’s of her mum’s.

Ok let’s go round the table, starting with me (of course!)

Red Berry & Ice Cream Pancakes.
Three butter-milk pancakes served with red berries and real dairy vanilla ice cream.

Ian’s customised meal!

The Big Breakfast.

Sausage, bacon, two fried eggs, grilled tomato slice, flat mushroom, black pudding and Heinz baked beans replaced it with an extra mushroom.

Kirsty went for

The Works.

A toasted muffin served with two rashers of bacon, two sausages and two fried eggs.

Lee & Danielle both opted for the same (with customisation!)

The Big Breakfast

Sausage, bacon, two fried eggs, grilled tomato slice, flat mushroom, black pudding (replaced by a) Hash Brown and Heinz baked beans.

We were given various sauces & they were very attentive about checking if we needed more drinks.

The food was served quite quickly & the quality was excellent. The smell of the bacon cooking nearly made me go & change my order! You could see into the kitchen which is great (although I had my back to it so couldn’t!).

We couldn’t fault the food or service & the quality ingredients they used made it one of the best breakfasts we’d had in a long time. The sausages were on par with our usual home reared sausages we get from a friend, not that I got to try them but that was what Ian tolld me!

If there was to be a complaint it’s that the eggs were slightly over cooked & the yolks were a little hard, but that really is nit picking & trying hard to find something to moan about.

So thank you so very much to My Family Club, #thriftythursday & Frankie & Benny’s Rubery West Mids for a lovely breakfast.

I was not asked to write this review, but wanted to as we enjoyed it so much.
