Real Life Stories:- At a Family Wedding …… Poem #7

At a Family Wedding
A wedding in the family what joy there did abound
Alas! I had to go alone as you are not around
Your family made me welcome as they always do
But it just was not the same to be there without you.
For Will and Charlotte it was a day so full of gladness
But along with me others had some sadness
Alas we have no say as to “how” or “why” or “when”
For death in its many guises will decide “now” or “then”.
For some of us “then” is always “now”
But begs the question “why” and “how”
Why should death have parted you and I
Will I ever learn “how” and “why”.
I watched with heavy heart as sadness showed through on a face
It so affected young and old, but why this time and place?
There is the realization that amidst all joy is sorrow
But then again no matter what, we have to face tomorrow!
For awhile please step aside sadness at this wonderful time of joy
And for Will and Charlotte may there be “great joy”
For now being one may they find new strength
Living life in partnership for many years in length.

Sadness for him should ‘step aside’ more often. Lovely poem.
