Spooky Chocolate & Orange Cupcakes.
Appliances Online have a great new blog competition running . They have given a list of ingredients to use & you can adapt them in any way you like.
Here’s the list they gave us:-
Dry ingredients required
- 65g caster sugar
- 60g Light soft brown sugar
- 125g self raising flour)
- 25g Chocolate chips
You’ll also need to add wet ingredients to your cake jars (you will all be needing these):
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- 2 medium eggs
- 125g butter or margarine, softened at room temperature
- 2 tbsp milk, to loosen
Here are my additions:-
Orange exract
2 x Oranges (peel grated & then juiced)
1 packet of Orange flavoured buttons.
This mixture will make enough to fill 12 cupcake cases, or a 9inch cake tin.
Then:
Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4.
Grease and line 2 x 18cm/7in cake tins with baking paper
OR prepare 12 cupcake cases
Baking Instructions
Empty the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl
Add the butter and the eggs and mix well
Add the milk and vanilla extract (optional) and mix
Spoon mixture into cake tin/Cupcake cases
Bake for 20/25 mins (Cake tin) 15 mins (cupcakes) or until golden-brown on top and a skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean
Remove from oven and set aside to cool.
And simply decorate!
I melted some of the left over chocolate chips & put that on half the cakes & decorated then with some of the orange chocolate buttons cut in half & the others I melted the remaining orange chocolate buttons & then decorated them with chocolate chips.
The combination of the 2 flavours is amazing.

These look yummy!!
