My Tots100 Printerpix Competition Entry
February 17, 2013 in Blog
Tots100 and Printerpix currently have a family photo competition running, with a top prize of a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200 camera plus £100 to spend with Printerpix.
There are also four runners up prizes of a large framed photo or canvas print – check out full details of the comp here - it ends on 22 February 2013 and is open to all Tots100 registered bloggers.
I knew immediately which picture I wanted to use for this, my entry is for the Family portraits category.
This picture is of my family on my mum’s side. Sadly this portrait is now more of a memory picture.
It was taken at my darling nan’s 90th birthday party, my nan with her beloved children, on the back row, Uncle Raymond, Uncle John (my mum’s twin brother) & Uncle Alan, on the front my nan Lillian Rhoda & my gorgeous mum Ann.
As you can see the picture is fairly old, I believe it will be 29 years ago this June that it was taken. My nan died 8 years later in 1992, my mum died in 2006 & my Uncle Raymond passed away 2 weeks ago.
I can remember the party & can smile, but at the same time I’m also crying thinking of the memories & of my lovely family that are no longer with us.
When my Uncle passed away, I laid in bed thinking about this picture & sobbing to myself. In my head I asked my mum to look out for him.
In this 1 picture there are so many happy memories & so much sadness. My nan was our Queen Mother, the head of the family, the Matriarch. She was so proud of all her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren.
To all my family, I love you all each & every day. x

Thanks Fi, the picture means so much, I didn’t realise just how emotional it would be actually writing about it
