Where to next????
Where to next is the big question.
We like to plan our holidays about a year in advance, and as you will have seen we’ve been to Tallinn for the past 6 years & feel we like a change this year.
The Estonian cricket team are playing cricket in Romania in July but we’re not sure that’s going to be possible to go with Crunchie and family holidays.
We’ve looked at going to see the Northern Lights in Iceland and although they say this year is the best year to see them with our trip to Australia it’s not possible to go so soon. So maybe in November we’ll make the trip even if it’s going to be cold, I think we can cope for a few days! Iceland isn’t cheap we know that and are prepared and have been looking at hotels that include dinner bed and breakfast. Then all we need to do is buy our drinks, although even that will still be done very lightly with the costs!!!!
Have you been? Can you give us any pointers as to the best places to go to?
So for somewhere hot to go to and when? Aruba has always appealed to us, but they don’t start the holidays till May which is a bit late for us as March/April is the normal time we look at going away.
Cuba, Mexico, Egypt, Sri Lanka are all hot at that time of year but we’ve done them, although there’s a lot of the countries we haven’t seen as we went as a family last time so holidays now with just the 2 of us are totally different, we like to relax, but also like to spend some time exploring.
Do I fancy a cruise? Yes I do, but Ian’s not too keen. After seeing the huge cruise ship in Circular Quay Australia, I think I could cope with a boat that size, although that was more of a family orientated cruise which we’d sooner avoid.
That goes for all the holidays we’ll look at, we don’t mind families but we’ve spent many years having to take holidays during the school breaks now we don’t have to not only does it make it cheaper for us it tends to make it quieter, especially as now the schools seem to be in the mindset to charge people to take the kids out of school, although recent reports showed even with a fine it was still cheaper taking the kids out than paying the supplement the travel companies add on!
When I lived in Leicester we always broke up at the end of June and the holidays were cheaper, the same went for October half term as these usually fell the week before most of the country so again we got holidays at the regular rate, it seems now though the travel companies have cottoned on and they are increasing the prices.
Do we wait and book a last minute holiday and try to grab a bargain or book something early and get the early booking discount?
Do you have any suggestions as to where we should go to?
